A wise man said that we all are different but we share two things, a fear of death and fear of losing property. As a lawyer I am intimately involved in both. It gives me a sense of worth to be able to close on a deal where both sides were respected and given their due. It is worthwhile work to help someone plan for their dying, or to help their heirs in the emotional issues and the legal issues of a life’s end. If I wished to make a fortune, I never would have spent my 36 years practicing here in Watertown. Here, old time virtues are still valued, and excessive billing isn’t one of them.
